I’ve been MIA this month, with way too many things going on, but I am still alive.
I’m back with an entry about the UFC card that went down last weekend in my birth town of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. UFC 97 didn’t really have a lot of fights that I was interested to see. As you know I’m not a big fan of Chuck Liddell’s and I knew that Anderson Silva was going to handle Thales Leites.
It is apparent that after his knockout loss to Mauricio Rua, Chuck is probably at the end of his fighting journey. He’s had a great career, held the championship belt and even beat the hell out of Tito Ortiz… What more can you ask for? He seemed gun-shy in his fight and couldn’t get off with his punches, although I think he should have been trying to kick more. Although Rua beat Chuck, I’m still not overly impressed with either. It should be interesting to see him fight younger, skilled talent like Evans, Machida and even crazy Quinton Jackson.
The main event of Silva vs. Leites was truly a letdown. Leites was outclassed in the octagon and had no idea how to handle Anderson "The Spider" Silva. Silva was too fast, too crafty and too accurate for Leites and really anyone else in that division for now. I feel bad for Anderson, because he always wants to put on a good show for the fans and this was surely not it, as the crowd was booing more than cheering the entire 5 round decision.
With UFC 97 done, I’m looking forward to UFC 98 on May 23, 2009. Predictions of the main fights go like this:
Rashad Evans vs. Lyoto Machida – Evans by 3rd round knockout. Matt Hughes vs Matt Serra – Hughes by 2 round knockout (earlier I hope though, cause I can’t stand Matt Serra!)
With several decent fights on the undercard, UFC 98 looks and should be a better event than UFC 97!

It seems as though time has run out for Jitendra and many users of SezWho.com… Myself included. When I first looked at this plug-in and network, it seemed like a pretty good tool, although a little sluggish; to enhance a blog and let readers rate articles and comments from other readers and give everyone a form of instant feedback. I’m sure that SezWho brought in most of their revenue through advertising and joint networks with other applications, but with they ran into a little trouble back in July of 2008 as seen here, when they partnered up with some big names in the blogging community.
Sadly, even that didn’t work out and they find themselves closing up shop. The world economic downturn is reaching more people every day. Although you may read about other issues in this company closure about skeptical companies SezWho partnered with, it’s obvious that people without jobs cannot spend money, businesses cannot advertise when people are not using their products or services and newspapers, magazines and websites will not be able to survive without advertising revenues from those companies.
Bottom line though. The SezWho application and product and community was a good one, I will miss it and so will many other bloggers.
My long-time friend, Marvin Prince: the man that introduced “Snow” and the track “Informer” to the world, often sends tracks from new artists, my way. We are both old school DJ’s from the 80’s and 90’s and he respects my ear and opinion on the tracks. There have been quite a few good ones here and there, but when he sent me a track called “Booty Up” from an artist called, Mr. Reign, I told him that this kid was the real deal. Brooklyn-born and Queens raised Raymond Basora aka Mr. Reign has a skillful and clean sound with the ability to mix reggae and dance-hall skills with R&B/Hip-Hop tracks, all on his own, something many artists need a collaboration to pull off.
Check out the video of Mr. Reign’s visit to Toronto to meet up with Marvin Prince and Charles Peart of MAC-FAC Management.
If you like the sound of this new talent, show your support, listen to the track and vote for Mr. Reign and “Booty Up” on Unsigned Hype Music. Vote today and every day!
Press Kit Blurb:
Brooklyn-born, Mr. Reign (aka Raymond Basora), asserts an exciting musical style that complements the diversity of the city of
New York.Raised in a religious, Caribbean family, Mr. Reign appreciates his humble beginnings and his musical roots, while growing up in NY has expanded his musical palette greatly to include a mosaic of musical genres.Early in his youth, he began to gravitate to urban music and it is here that he began his search for his own, distinctive sound. Reign’s open-minded, well-rounded musical tastes have encouraged the infusion of various musical genres into the Reggae/ Hip Hop vibe of his music.Mr. Reign’s artistic influences include Michael Jackson, The Police, Barrington Levy, Slick Rick, Julio Iglesias, 2 Pac and Rakim.
Currently in the studio on his latest album, this talented singer/ songwriter released his critically acclaimed debut album in 1997, entitled “Indestructible”.His distinctive style and collaborations with Cannibus and Amel Larrieux (formerly of Groove Theory) on the album revealed that Reign was way ahead of his time, making music that we would come to know, years later, as Reggaeton.Mr. Reign has penned lyrics for such artists as Snow, Amel Larrieux, Silk, Voices of Theory and Lumi Dee.His other musical endeavors include working with producers Bobby Konders (Massive B, Hot 97 DJ), Salaam Remi (Nas, Fugees, Lil Kim) and Steve Morales (Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias, Celine Dion).Mr. Reign has toured across Canada, Europe, the U.S. and to parts of the
CaribbeanIslands.
Reign has recently teamed with M.A.C.-F.A.C. Management for the production of his new album.“I met M.A.C.-F.A.C. Management through producer Marvin Prince Reconnecting in 2008 through facebook, Marvin and Reign became acquainted at a NYC studio in 1992.“Recently, I flew up to
Canada to meet Marvin and his partner – Charles Peart, and now we’re family”.
Reign’s long-term goals include becoming a magnate in the music industry by enterprising his own multimedia company. His innovative passion for everything musical will not disappoint.“My music is like a stew…If you put just the right amount of ingredients even though it may seem too much. It comes out just right.”
I want to wish Mr. Reign all the success in the world and just know that with hard work, great rewards are inevitable. You’re also in great hands with Marvin Prince, you won’t find a harder working and honest man in the business.

It’s Mid-March and all of us College Hoops fans know what that means: Great quality basketball all day and everyday for the next couple of weeks and of course all of the college bracket challenges that you can dream of. My team, the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels will not be invited to the big dance, but I will be watching and hoping that North Carolina and Duke, do not win the National Championship. I’ve never been a fan of either team, but I know they always have the dominant squads. So knowing that, you’ll understand why I chose Texas to win the whole thing, although I wouldn’t mind Louisville winning either. You can see my whole crazy bracket here on CBS Sports. And enter your own picks! There is $10,000 up for grabs and most of the time, people with little basketball knowledge end up winning the big prizes! You can also watch all of the games for free at the official NCAA website.
Everything starts on Thursday, March 19, so get your brackets in and Let’s go Texas or Louisville or Memphis and oh yeah, Oklahoma!
As I mentioned before, I listen to radio shows of Presidents harshest critics quite a bit. Rush, Hannity and the insane Mark Levin (although I can only stomach him before has has his daily “spaz” attack), but I think it is always a good idea to hear what people have to say, whether you agree with it or not. It helps to give you a different perspective, may change your views and if nothing else, give you more reasons to know you are on the right course for yourself.
All of these daily milestones for the president don’t make a lot of sense to me, because many of the actions and decisions of a president do not have an immediate impact. Having said that, they can be used as a gauge of promises made during a presidential campaign. The website PolitiFact has done just that. They have compiled a list of more than 500 promises President Obama made on the campaign trail and they are keeping track of what has been done to make them a reality or if they have been broken entirely.
Not that politicians are known for keeping their promises, I think Barack Obama will do the best he can to shape an America that is a little more compassionate and understanding. I think he truly understands that it’s not all about the “haves” and “have nots”, it’s about giving everyone an equal opportunity to do the best for themselves, their families and their country. I’ll wait for the 4 year milestone and see if President Obama is elected for a second term to really determine if he’s doing what the voting masses want.
